The Artistic Planning Committee for the 2022 WASBE Conference invites submissions of proposals for presentations at the 19th Biennial Conference, which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic from the 19th to the 23rd of July 2022.

Presentations may take the form of lectures, panel discussion, workshops or clinics and should be no more than 25 minutes in length. Any topics related to Symphonic Wind Bands/Ensembles and their repertoire are welcome, including rehearsal techniques, artistry in performance, appropriate repertoire at all grade levels, regionally significant repertoire, programming, marketing and concert promotion, use of technology, composition and arranging techniques, and research related to pedagogy and performance. Historical presentations/papers would be more suited to our publications. rather than this event. Proposals should be submitted by 30 June 2021. 

Proposals should be written in English and include the following:

  • Name of the presenter(s)
  • Postal address of presenter(s)
  • Email address of presenter(s)
  • Biographical Sketch of Presenter(s) (250 – 300 words)
  • Title of presentation
  • Abstract of Presentation (400 – 500 words) including 1) aim and purpose of the presentation,
    2) theoretical background, 3) synthesis of content, 4) conclusions and/or implications.
  • Audio/Visual requirements for the presentation

Members of the Artistic Planning Committee will review and select appropriate proposals. Acceptance for presentation will be subject to the final decision of the WASBE Board. Please note that it is not a requirement to be a member of WASBE in order to submit a proposal. However, it is expected that at the time of the Conference all presenters will be a member or student member of WASBE and register for the conference.
