Four new Board members and a President-Elect will be elected by the WASBE membership next spring. Now is the time to nominate candidates for these positions. To be nominated for the Board, the nominee must be a WASBE member in good standing. To be nominated for President Elect, the nominee must have served as a member of the WASBE Board. You received all information in the past June issue of WASBE World 2012. Please notice that we´ve extended the deadline so you all are still be able to vote. WASBE is very sorry to have to inform you that there will be no WASBE Conference in 2013. After Pesc withdrew their offer to host the Conference because of financial problems, Valencia indicated a half year ago that it would be willing to host the Conference. However, after valiant efforts from all parties, it was determined in July 2012 that the time was too short to prepare properly a World Conference.
  

IGEB, the International Society for the Promotion and Research of Wind Music, is proud to announce the winners of the Thelen Prize for 2012. The prize, awarded biennially, memorializes Fritz Thelen, one of IGEBs cofounders. It will be presented at the conference in Coimbra, Portugal, between July 12 and 17, 2012. 

The 2012 Screening Committee (Wolfgang Suppan (Pürgg, Austria), Raoul Camus (New York, USA), Hellmut Mahling (Mainz, Germany)) and the 2012 Selection Committee (Klaus Aringer (Graz, Austria), Robert Grechesky (Indianapolis, USA), Francis Pieters (Kortrijk, Belgium) choose the following outstanding dissertations in the field of wind music research:
