WASBE 2007 Podcast: Episode 8 Added

We could not conclude the WASBE 2007 Conference Podcast without speaking once again with 2007 LOC Chair Fergus O'Carroll. He reflects on the Conference (all that he saw of it) and provides some behind-the-scenes insight. We discuss the things that the Irish contributed that are likely to continue in future Conferences. We also speak about the differences between a "legacy" and a "city event" Conference bid.

Message from the Treasurer

What a great time we had in Killarney! All of you who were there became part of a successful, absolutely professional musical event in a small town in south west of the so-called “green island”.

The LOC Ireland under Chairperson Fergus O’Carroll did everything for us to feel comfortable, they did everything to have an immensely high artistic level — and they succeeded!

The selection committee has processed all applications for the 2007 International Youth Wind Orchestra. Offers of places were e-mailed to applicants on 01 February. However, the committee reports that some e-mail messages failed, for different reasons, and it is possible that a small number of applicants did not receive any notification. If you applied for the IYWO and have not received any notification, please e-mail the committee with your full name and instrument and they can arrange to re-send your notification.

2006 Jungfrau Music Festival – Report

It was my pleasure to be invited to be the instructor for the 2006 Conducting Masterclass at the Jungfrau Music Festival in Switzerland. Named for Switzerland’s Jungfrau mountain, this event has a very short history, but already has achieved an extremely high status and as it becomes better known should become something representing a zenith in the wind conducting world.
