International competitions of symphonic bands in Ostrava take place in biennial intervals and they have a long tradition and reach a high artistic level. They contribute to enrichment of symphonic bands repertoire, encourage their effort to increase the dramaturgical and interpretive level and become an asset leading to development of international cooperation in the sphere of symphonic bands.

There will be a lot of other activities before and during the international competition such as concerts in Ostrava town parts, exhibition and servicing of musical instruments, radio and television broadcasting etc.

* The competition is accessible to symphonic bands (harmonies) with minimal number of 45 musicians to maximal number of 85 musicians. * The competition performance of each orchestra will last 25 minutes of actual time. This limit means the orchestra’s duty to perform competitive obligatory composition appointed to their class. * The competition will be judged by a five-member international professional jury.

The SCL Festival Vienna is Austria’s premier global youth music festival for choirs, bands and orchestras. Taking place every July in Vienna’s two main classical concert venues, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus, it offers an international environment where a thousand young musicians enjoy intercultural exchanges and build bridges that span continents. Ensembles may participate either in the Competition or in the Celebration (non-competitive). Top professionals form the international juries in the Competition and they also teach our Academy Program at the Vienna University of Music. Enjoy interactive workshops and educational lectures, additional concerts with local audiences, and pre-and post-concert tours in Europe.

Venues for additional encounter concerts in and around Vienna (2 for each participating ensemble) are held in Austria’s most reputable cultural institutions such as:  Schönbrunn Palace, St. Charles Church, Austrian National Library, Haus der Musik.

The opening ceremony is held in St. Stephen’s Cathedral and workshops and seminars are held in the University of Music in Vienna.

The application deadline is February 15, 2013.

The event was created to give sensitivity and other opportunities to the youth of our land to discover cultural and musical stimuli. We wanted to dedicate the award to Simone Mantia why this great musician was born in Sciacca and thus pay homage to her figure with our event.

The First World Wind Orchestra Contest New York  2013 will be held at the amazing concert venue:  Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at the Symphony Space New York on Wednesday and Thursday 30 - 31 October 20113. The Peter Jay Sharp Theatre is in the Juilliartd School and a part of the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.

Rehearsals on 28 - 29 In the Symphony Space New York.

Registration is open for wind orchessras categorized in Superior Class.

Possible travel arrangements may be made from 27 October until 1 November 2013.

Two works chosen by the wind orchestra will be adjudicated by the International Jury.

Registration must be receibved by 1 April 2013.

New Year’s Wind Orchestra Festival Vienna 2014 will take place at the amazing and world famous concert hall “KONZERTHAUS WIEN”.

The Festival concert date is Sunday, the 5th of January 2014.  Complete Percussion section will be present at the concerts.

Registration is possible until the 1st of July 2013.  All (symphonic & philharmonic) wind orchestras can join the Festival. It is a Festival, no contest.
