Composition Competitions

The following is a listing of composition contests currently receiving applications. A listing here is in no way to be construed as a WASBE endorsement of the competition. The contests are listed in order of the earliest deadline.

National Musical Composition Contest for Pasodobles, Villa de Pozo Estrecho

The first, second, and third prizes of 3,000, 900, and 300 Euros respectively will be awarded. The fourth and fifth places will be awarded a diploma. The compositional will be for original pasodobles and not awarded a prize in another contest. International Torrevieja Band Competition

Both Spanish and foreign amateur music bands shall be permitted to participate in this competition. The competition is not open to professional and music conservatory bands. From the inscriptions received, selected applicants shall be included in a public draw in order to choose the three competing bands. Participation shall be limited to bands between 65 and 120 musicians. The compulsory work will bew “Sinfonia Hamlet” by D. Santiago Quinto Serna (Molenaar). The competition shall credit the participating bands costs for all expenses with a single sum of 5.000€. The first prize will be 6.000€. The registration deadline is Friday, October 31, 2008. 40th FSMC Anniversary International Composition Competition for Symphonic Band and Choir

Composers of any nationality may participate. The compositions must be original. Scores must be submitted in quintipulate, and accompanied by individual parts, duration of 13 - 20 minutes. The winning composition will be performed in prèmiere by the FSMCV Federal Band during the concert at the closing ceremony of the 40th Anniversary of the foundation. Schiedmayer Celesta GmbH International Contest for Composition

Competition is for celesta solo and for celesta with instrumental ensemble (10-15 minutes). A total of 10,000 euros will be awarded. Composers of every nationality are encouraged to participate.
